Dr.Yan Lin is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of New Mexico. Her main research directions are GIS and spatial analysis and their applications in human health. Her specific studies include spatial analysis and modeling (including spatial accessibility modeling, air pollution assessment modeling), WebGIS, health disparity studies, and environmental-related disease research.

She has published many papers in GIS, Geography, and Public Health Journals, including Transaction in GIS, annals of GIS, applied geography, journal of rural health, Women's Health Issues, Science of the Total Environment, etc. She is the PI of a research project on cancer geographic disparity funded by the University of New Mexico and Co-I of NIH and EPA’s project on environmental pollution exposure assessment in American Indian reservations. She has served as a board member of the AAG medical/health geography specialty group for the past two years and has reviewed more than 40 internationally renowned journal articles.

Dr. Lin received her MS. from Central South University in 2009 and Ph.D. from Texas State University in 2014. Prior to her position at UNM, Dr. Lin held the following positions: (a) Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, South Dakota State University (2014-2016); (b) Research Associate, Department of Geography, Texas State University (2013-2014); (c) Instructor of record, Department of Geography, Texas State University (2013). (d) Assistant, School of Geosciences and Info-physics, Central South University (2007-2008).
